What is Race the Waves?

It's the most fantastic event in the calendar of Bridlington (in our opinion) and was founded in 2018 by a gentleman named Paul Garbutt. The event sees competitors from the UK, Europe and beyond race the tide in a variety of vintage cars, trucks and motorcycles...waved off by the events very own glamourous  'Flag Girls'

As well as the racing there are food and drink stalls, a Steampunk event, classic car and motorcycle event, live music and merchandise stalls. There's a real buzz and plenty to do for families as well as car enthusiasts.

The event brings in tens of thousands of visitors to Bridlington and gives the economy and local businesses a real boost. It's wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves (though be sure to get parked early to avoid the crowds)

Official Racers Campsite

We've followed the progress of Race the Waves since 2022 when we took on the management of the campsite as we personally love all the vintage vehicles and the great atmosphere the event brings. You can imagine our excitement when the organiser of Race the Waves, Paul Garbett of Backfire Events approached us to ask if we'd be the official campsite in 2025.

We were so happy to welcome the racers and their pit crew onto site for a weekend of laughter, two stroke and revving engines...possibly the only time the campsite hasn't been quiet and peaceful.
