Dear All,

Many of us would happily forget last year, especially those whose homes were flooded and suffered further through the slowness of insurance companies and others to settle claims more quickly. Fortunately, Thorpe was miles away from these tragedies, but sadly lost a great deal of business because the media delighted in giving the impression that the whole of Yorkshire was many feet under water which quite naturally put off potential holiday makers to our region, and our tourist authorities did nothing to dispel this mistaken impression.

I do wonder why I pay their fees to belong!

Anyway, we are still here! Enough grumbling about our ‘lords and masters’, hopeless though they maybe! A special thank you to those who stayed and saw that we had dry ground! Some dear friends visited during the worst times just to get a hot shower in clean water! One caravan stayed as a guest in November because he was having such a difficult time with the insurance assessors!

cowslipsYes. We are doing the nature walks as usual. I lead them and apologise if sometimes I walk too fast up hill!

March 22nd Easter Saturday Walk
May 17th Cowslip Walk
July 12th Summer Walk & BBQ

Improvements this winter include, other than spending a great deal of money, the Gents Side of the Toilet Block, the Disabled and Family Room and the Laundry floor.

Geoff continues to retire by degrees and I am not sure which will give up the ghost first, the grass cutters or him! Ian Keane now works for us full time, and his painting and building knowledge has been put to good use as you will see! Jayne is still in the ‘pink’ (her hair!) as ever and is looking forward to hearing from you!
