| Dear All,
Guess what happened in 1979 – that’s the year we opened! I still can’t quiet believe it, but we have been in business for 30 years! Grandchildren come and visit us now and it is delightful to meet those who first stayed at Thorpe in a pram! It must be something to do with the air because Jayne gets introduced to many ‘bumps’ nowadays! It is wonderful that so many of you regard us as your second home and for this we are very happy as the Great Wold Valley of the Gypsy Race and especially Thorpe are magic places to live and stay in.
The nature walks continue in their popularity and the dates are:-
April 11th Easter Saturday Walk
May 16th Cowslip Walk
July 11th Summer Walk & BBQ
Come and join us for both the walk and/or the 30 year Celebration BBQ and a Barrel of Wold Gold Summer Beer
For those of you who have come on the Cowslip Walk; last summer a very rare Day Flying Micro Moth, ‘Falseuncaria~Ruficiliana’ was identified on the Chalk Bank by an expert and this is the only reliable record in the whole of Yorkshire. This Micro Moth is particularly associated with Cowslips which demonstrates the importance of having certain fields which have never been sprayed or fertilized for the benefit of wild flowers and the insects that depend on them for there survival.
Despite his advancing years, Geoff will again be cutting the grass though he seems to be surviving better than one of the lawn mowers which had to be replaced last year! Ian is still in charge of the Toilet Block which he maintains with loving care. Most of you meet me having a cup of coffee which Jayne kindly makes for me in the morning and evening; so nothing much changes! (including Jayne’s pink hair)
We are receiving a goodly number of advanced bookings; thus it would be advisable to be in touch if you want to reserve a particular pitch number.
Happy New Year
